I Don't Want to Sell
Selling seems like it’s a dirty word within the prospective work at home mom’s resume.
Numerous times I’ve heard women state they would like to work from home, but don’t want to sell anything—they aren’t good at selling.
I know a lot of women do not want to hear this but, there will be some form of selling involved when operating a home based business.
However, I do know what some people mean when they say they don’t want to get involved in selling to others.
I do not enjoy heading up and hosting a home party. It’s not my thing and I feel as though I am pressuring people to purchase the products I am presenting—even if they are interested in what I might offer and have the money to buy from me.
I’m just not good with that type of environment. Maybe it’s because I know that when I go to home parties; half the time I don’t have two pennies to rub together, but I go to the party to support a friend in her business venture.
There were other home businesses I was involved with where the concentration was based solely on recruiting other women to sign up with my business. I wasn’t really trained to sell the products the company was selling, but to put my focus on gaining more down lines. That was not for me either.
On the other side of the coin, I do know some very successful women who are in the home party business and involved with MLM companies that do very well for themselves. What’s the difference between those women and me? They enjoy what they are doing. They really believe in the product or service they offer and put their all into their work.
Now we come full circle, I never said I did not enjoy selling. I just didn’t enjoy the way I was selling or maybe I didn’t care for what I was selling at the time. After many home business attempts and much study, I finally found what I enjoy doing—Creating graphics to help other work at home moms get the look for their website they desire. And of course, working on this blog to help other moms in all aspects of their lives. Did I just build my website and blog and sit back with my hands folded after the site was built? Certainly not!
I still have to sell something—even though my blog is full of free information, I still have to get out there and market the blog and website, work on it to keep the content fresh and interesting, spread the word to others online and offline. And in turn, this blog will lead those who are looking for graphics for their website to Simply Websets.
Whether you’re involved with a service, product, or information you still have to sell something.
The key to success if finding just what it is you’re comfortable selling!
Do you love candles, but hate doing home parties? Well, find a different way to sell them. You could sell them online, put an ad in your local paper, go to flea markets, craft fairs, and hand out booklets to friends and family.
The world is your oyster—but you still have to dig to find the pearl!
